The Open Science Grid (OSG) provides high-throughput computing and data management for U.S. scientists working with the Large Hadron Collider to discover the Higgs Boson as well as other cutting edge scientific research endeavors. Building on previous engagement by IU's Research Technologies group with OSG, I'm leading OSG's project to establish a new public key infrastructure to serve its users authentication needs.
This project represents a groundbreaking new model of security for the scientific community as it is the first time a commercial company, DigiCert, has been used in a science project for such a service, a move that seeks to both improve the effectiveness and economics of security for the science community.
Publications related to the project can be found in the OSG Document Database.
